Description:

This course will take you, in four weekly sessions, through a comprehensive experience in one of the most beautiful fire arts. This class is for those seeking a greater understanding and appreciation of this destructive force of nature and how to develop a personal relationship with flame. We will take you through introductory to advanced fire eating and contact fire while maintaining a safe and respectful atmosphere and providing the guidance necessary to continue on your own exploration of the element of fire.

Class Goals:

You will leave our class having done basic fleshing (contact fire), and a basic extinguish. You will get as far down the road to advanced fire work as your comfort will allow; you will have an extensive exposure to the more advanced vapor tricks and transfers, and quite possibly have conquered some of those.

You will also have all of the knowledge surrounding the skill such as the dangers and safety procedures, what kind of tools and fuels to use and how to take care of your body before and after fire performance.

Prerequisites:

None.

Materials:

Materials will be provided, though students are advised to bring a water bottle as hydration will be very important.

Instructor Biography:

Julia Desiree and Dominique Immora are professional performers in the Boston Area that have years of Fire Eating and Fleshing under their belts. They are fully insured members of the Boston Circus Guild and follow all guidelines for safety set by the North American Fire Arts Association (NAFAA), of whom they are also members. They also help organize and teach at the east coast's premier fire performance training retreat, Wildfire. In addition to Fire Eating and Fleshing, they also spin a  variety of other fire props including poi, fans, hoops, darts, etc and are trained in the aerial arts and partner acrobatics.
